The kingdom also recorded its highest annual surplus in the travel account estimated around SAR 50 billion in 2024, a 7.8 percent growth compared to 2023.

The Minister, His Excellency Ahmed Al Khateeb, is playing a vital role in driving the kingdom’s tourism vision. In addition to his ministerial duties, he chairs the Quality of Life Program Committee and the Tourism Development Fund, as well as leading the board of directors of the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA). Paul Griffiths became Dubai Airports’ first CEO in October 2007; his leadership was pivotal in several key milestones, including the seamless launch of Terminal 3 at DXB on October 14, 2008, and the successful opening of DWC on June 27, 2010.

Another historic achievement came on January 2, 2013, with the opening of Concourse A, the world’s first dedicated A380 facility. On December 20, 2018, he joined Dubai Airports chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum to welcome DXB’s billionth passenger.

Before joining Dubai Airports, Griffiths served as managing director of London’s Gatwick Airport. He began his career in the aviation industry in 2004 with BAA, after spending 14 years with the Virgin Group.
