Interview with Raki Phillips, CEO, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA)
In an interview with Economy Middle East at ATM Dubai 2024, Raki Phillips, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), discussed new developments in Ras Al Khaimah, noting plans to double the number of hotel rooms in the coming years.
He highlighted the Arabian Travel Market as their busiest show, with over 30 exhibitors promoting the destination’s attractions.
Ras Al Khaimah welcomed 1.22 million tourists in 2023, marking an 8% overall growth, with a notable 26% increase in international travelers. Phillips anticipated further growth, especially from markets like the UK, Germany, and China. Furthermore, he mentioned sustainability efforts, highlighting significant reductions in food waste and emissions, leading to a silver certification for Ras Al Khaimah.
