$15 million solar power plant to be established in Abu Dhabi’s KEZAD facility

Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD Group), the region’s premier operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones, and Abundance Solar Panels Industries, an Emirati company, have announced the signing of a 50-year land lease agreement for the establishment of a state-of-the-art solar power plant within KEZAD’s Area A – Al Ma’mourah.

The AED55 million ($15 million) investment will enable the facility to manufacture advanced solar panels and integrated photovoltaic modules, catering to businesses across various sectors seeking to transition to energy-efficient ecosystems, WAM reported.

Spanning an expansive 27,000 square metres, this project represents another milestone in KEZAD’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the development of innovative clean energy environments. The agreement also reinforces AD Ports Group’s strategic vision to drive the UAE’s transition towards renewable energy and lead the nation’s green agenda to achieve net-zero emissions.

Leveraging advanced solar panel technology

The proposed solar plant will leverage the latest innovations in panel technology and operate within a sustainable ecosystem, promoting the environmental stewardship and responsibility that are hallmarks of KEZAD Group’s approach.

Mohamed Al Khadar Al Ahmed, CEO of KEZAD Group, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Abundance’s solar panel plant. This project aligns with our leadership’s vision for sustainable economic development and KEZAD Group’s goals of driving industrial growth responsibly and sustainably in Abu Dhabi.”

Additionally, Sunil Madhok, founder of Abundance Solar Panels Industries, echoed a similar sentiment. He expressed that the company was inspired by the UAE’s leadership in promoting innovation and excellence in sustainable manufacturing. As a result, they are establishing a fully automated solar panel production facility to contribute to Abu Dhabi’s green future.
