In 2023, the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs achieved outstanding results in digital customs transactions across the ports of Abu Dhabi. There was a remarkable 72 percent growth compared to 2022, marking the highest rate since the initiation of their strategic transformation journey.

Proactive and automated processes
According to Abu Dhabi Media Office, a significant portion of the total customs transactions (42 percent) were carried out through proactive and automated processes. This represented a growth of 24.3 percent throughout the year. Abu Dhabi Customs introduced a proactive insurance refund service to its customers in the emirate, and various transactions such as truck transit permits, goods entry and exit permits, vehicle customs certificates, and customs entry and exit certificates were automatically issued alongside the preparation of the customs declaration.
Customs declarations
Customs declarations witnessed a 6 percent growth in the past year, while pre-arrival customs clearance transactions accounted for 47 percent of the total customs clearance procedures across the emirate’s customs ports. This reflected a growth of 20 percent compared to 2022.
Express shipping: 6 percent increase in transactions
Express shipping companies experienced a 6 percent increase in transactions, and customs clearance in bonded warehouses saw an impressive growth of 150 percent. The clearance time improved by 16 percent in 2023, and Abu Dhabi Customs services achieved a 95 percent customer satisfaction rating on the Abu Dhabi Digital Government Services Platform “TAMM”.
