The Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau (ADCEB), which is part of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), has announced a new initiative aimed at establishing Abu Dhabi as a top destination for weddings.
The initiative specifically targets Indian nationals hosting destination weddings in the Emirate by offering visa support.
This announcement was made during the ongoing Arabian Travel Market 2024 event, which began in May 2024.
The introduction of the new visa initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s Tourism Strategy 2030, which aims to attract 39.3 million visitors by 2030.
The Destination Wedding segment is a recent addition to ADCEB’s portfolio, reflecting its overarching goal of attracting both domestic and international visitors and increasing the sector’s contribution to the GDP to AED 90 billion, as outlined in the 2030 strategy.

Positioning Abu Dhabi as a leading global destination for weddings
India is recognized as one of the largest markets for destination weddings worldwide, making it a key target market for Abu Dhabi.
By extending visa support to Indian weddings and covering associated costs, ADCEB’s Destination Wedding segment seeks to position Abu Dhabi as a leading global destination for weddings and celebrations of all kinds.
It presents an opportunity to showcase the Emirate’s unique cultural and entertainment offerings, cultural attractions, and natural landscapes to international audiences.
Weddings also play a significant role in generating revenue for the hospitality sector, driving the occupancy of venues and hotel rooms, as well as benefiting various service industries such as wedding planning, photography, catering, and personal services.
The Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau plays a vital role in organizing business events, destination weddings, and celebrations throughout the Emirate. Moreover, it brings together experts and stakeholders to secure convention business and coordinate strategies for bid development, all with the aim of promoting Abu Dhabi as a leading destination for business tourism and celebrations.
