Abu Dhabi is actively working to enhance community welfare, as the Department of Community Development (DCD) has issued eight new licenses to non-profit organizations, raising the total to 99 by year-end. Licensing these non-profit companies aims to improve their services and address social priorities, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for communities across the emirate.
Empowering non-profit organizations
The licensing of non-profit organizations is designed to empower these entities to provide their services in accordance with their goals and bylaws, all within a clearly established legal framework. This organized approach seeks to ensure compliance while enhancing awareness of the significant contributions made by these organizations.
The eight entities that the Department of Community Development (DCD) has granted licenses to include: Green Hands Association, UAE Society for Tolerance and Happiness, Union for Human Rights Association, Emirates Thalassemia Association, Business and Economists Association, Emirates Association for Judicial Notarization, Emirates Falconers Club, and Emirates Oncology and Radiotherapy Association (EORA).

His Excellency Mubarak Al Ameri, executive director of the Social Licensing and Control Sector at DCD, said: “The licensing of social sector entities by the DCD plays a fundamental role in facilitating their operations and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This enhances efforts to achieve the desired social objectives. Additionally, non-profit organizations play a vital role as key partners in advancing the social sector, providing innovative solutions to address societal challenges and empowering individuals to lead stable and dignified lives.

His Excellency also emphasised the importance of cooperation and partnership among the government, private, and third sectors and highlighted the need to develop innovative solutions to social challenges and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s leading position in the social field on a global scale.
