The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) announced on Wednesday the launch of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Data Platform under the guidance of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ADAFSA.
Abu Dhabi’s agriculture and food security data platform is a strategic tool that supports decision-making on food security and agriculture matters in Abu Dhabi. It provides accurate and comprehensive information on all aspects of the agriculture and food sector in Abu Dhabi, from agricultural production to distribution and consumption.
Facilitating decision-making
The platform analyzes up-to-date data and extracts reports that help policymakers make decisions that contribute to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of food security policies and programs. Moreover, it aids in developing a sustainable, flexible and integrated food system that meets the needs of the emirate and mitigates threats or risks to food security and biosecurity.
ADAFSA developed the agriculture and food security data platform in collaboration with strategic partners from the public and private sectors. It collects data from 16 strategic partners of the authority to enable sustainable agricultural development across Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Ensuring global food security
The platform monitors local, regional and global food security conditions through a comprehensive dashboard that covers over 335 indicators. Moreover, it supports a flexible response to food emergencies, animal diseases and agricultural pests, facilitating early action to prevent supply chain disruptions.
Additionally, it monitors data on the sector’s health, vaccination programs, investment data and potential investment opportunities. It also provides forecasts and scientific predictions about production and consumption, as well as supply and demand forecasts for food commodities.
Abu Dhabi’s agriculture and food security data platform also includes a warning system for local, regional and global risks, and threats. This ensures the development of scenarios for dealing with normal conditions as well as other scenarios for emergencies and crises.
