The Abu Dhabi Police has launched a next-generation autonomous patrol vehicle in partnership with the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council. The initiative is part of the force’s strategy to integrate advanced technology to boost road safety and enhance security coverage across the emirate.
The announcement came during Abu Dhabi Police’s participation at Gitex Global 2024, taking place from October 14 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Center.
Raising public safety and security
Abu Dhabi Police’s new autonomous patrol vehicle aims to improve security coverage, particularly in residential areas and off-road environments. It also facilitates remote operational capabilities using wireless communication that links with surveillance drones.
The vehicle also features a fully reconfigurable internal structure that can adapt to meet a variety of operational needs. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with AI technologies that enable it to process voice, data, video, and behavior monitoring, raising its effectiveness in maintaining public safety.
The launch underscores Abu Dhabi Police’s commitment to adopting AI solutions to enhance security operations, particularly in areas where greater monitoring and rapid response are crucial. By leveraging these technologies, the police force continues to improve its capacity to maintain safety and security throughout the emirate, both in urban environments and over rugged terrains.
Abu Dhabi at Gitex Global 2024
This year, the Abu Dhabi government marked its 13th participation in Gitex Global 2024, unveiling groundbreaking AI-powered digital initiatives on the event’s opening day and reinforcing the emirate’s position as a global leader in digital transformation and innovation.
On day one, Abu Dhabi government entities launched a group of initiatives aimed at transforming customer service and accelerating the emirate’s transition to a fully AI-driven digital future. These initiatives target advancements in key sectors, including cybersecurity, culture and literature, statistics, and government performance excellence, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for the citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi.
The Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi launched GovGPT, an AI knowledge agent that aims to empower Abu Dhabi government employees by providing easy access to various AI tools. Additionally, the department launched the Cybersecurity Hackathon, a competition involving students from UAE universities to explore talents in cybersecurity through simulation of hacking attempts.
The Statistics Center – Abu Dhabi launched Bayaan, a unified decision-making platform utilizing the latest generative AI technologies to provide decision-makers with forward-looking indicators and advanced data analytics.
Meanwhile, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi launched an AI-powered audiobook platform, converting written texts into audio content, to enable those with visual impairments or reading difficulties to access a wide library of literature.
