G42, the Abu Dhabi-based artificial intelligence and advanced technology group, has officially launched G42 Europe & U.K., a subsidiary based in London. This entity aims to provide tailored AI solutions to the private sector in Europe and the U.K., while partnering with governments and industries to enhance critical AI infrastructure across the U.K. and continental Europe.
G42 Europe & U.K. will be co-chaired by two experienced technology leaders, Omar Mir and Marty Edelman, as stated in an announcement. Omar Mir, an international board member at World Wide Technology, has more than 20 years of experience in the global tech industry. At WWT, he has led transformative initiatives across the U.K., Europe, the United States, and the Middle East, driving advancements in 5G, edge computing, cloud, and AI services.
Marty Edelman, the group general counsel of G42, manages the legal and compliance strategy across the Group’s diverse global operations. He has played a crucial role in shaping G42’s governance framework as it expands into new markets.
Moreover, Omar Mir, co-chair of G42 Europe & U.K., remarked, “I am honored to co-chair G42 Europe & U.K. at this pivotal moment. Our goal is to harness G42’s proven AI expertise and localise it for European and U.K. businesses – fuelling digital transformation, enhancing competitiveness, and building resilient, sovereign AI infrastructure in partnership with public and private stakeholders.”
Scalable and secure AI services
Marty Edelman, co-chair and group general counsel, G42, added, “U.K. & Europe represents a dynamic market with immense opportunity for AI-driven innovation. By establishing a dedicated hub in London, we strengthen our ability to serve clients with deep regulatory understanding and world-class technology solutions.”
The formation of this new entity comes in response to G42’s increasing momentum in Europe, highlighted by recent announcements of data centers and compute clusters in France and Italy, as well as growing interest from several other countries in the region.
G42 Europe & U.K. will further leverage G42’s extensive network of supercomputing nodes, data centers, and AI capabilities to deliver scalable and secure end-to-end AI services. These will range from strategic advisory and model development to infrastructure deployment and managed services, catering to sectors that include financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy.
Additionally, the new entity will collaborate with national and regional bodies to promote data-sovereignty initiatives and support the implementation of next-generation AI infrastructure.
