ADNOC Gas has announced a 10-year agreement to supply GAIL India Limited, the leading natural gas company in India, with 0.5 million metric tons per annum (mmtpa) of Liquified Natural Gas (LNG). According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), this agreement adds to ADNOC Gas’ portfolio of significant international LNG sales agreements, which include partnerships with Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX), TotalEnergies Gas and Power, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), and PetroChina International (PCI). These collaborations solidify ADNOC Gas’ position as a preferred global export partner.

ADNOC Gas’ commitment to sustainable growth

The growing global demand for LNG as an important fuel in the transition to a more sustainable energy landscape is evident. ADNOC Gas remains committed to investing in sustainable growth that aligns with customer demand. In 2023, the company continued to build momentum by signing several LNG agreements valued between $9.4 billion (AED34.5 billion) and $12 billion (AED44 billion). Additionally, ADNOC Gas has been investing domestically to meet both local and international natural gas demand.

The Ruwais LNG project

As part of the broader Gas masterplan within the ADNOC Group, ADNOC is making progress on the Ruwais LNG project, a low-carbon initiative currently being developed in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi. This project aims to be the first LNG export facility in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to operate on clean power, making it one of the world’s lowest-carbon intensity LNG plants. The Ruwais LNG project will consist of two LNG liquefaction trains with a total capacity of 9.6 mmtpa, contributing to ADNOC’s goal of achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045.
