The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) announced today that its offshore Satah Al Razboot (SARB) field has raised its production capacity by 25 percent through the implementation of industry-leading advanced digital technologies.
The SARB field’s production increased to a total of 140,000 barrels per day. This supports ADNOC’s target to increase its production capacity to 5 million barrels of oil per day by 2027.
Remote operation boosts efficiency
Located 120 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi, the digital solutions at SARB allow the remote operation of the field from Zirku island, 20km away. The remote control center allows ADNOC to monitor the field’s operation. Moreover, it allows it to utilize smart well operation and production management technologies for real-time decision-making.
This has enabled ADNOC to accelerate the SARB field’s capacity at lower cost and emissions. The field’s digitalization will also enable the deployment of additional AI solutions to further enhance and optimize operations.
“AI and digitalization are at the heart of ADNOC’s smart growth strategy to help responsibly meet the world’s growing energy demand,” stated Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, ADNOC Upstream Executive Director.

Enhancing drilling efficiency and optimization
The technologies that ADNOC has deployed in the SARB field include tools from AIQ. AIQ’s solutions like DrillRep and OptiDrill process data from rigs and wells in the field, enhancing drilling efficiency and optimization.
By utilizing daily data reports and rig sensor data, AIQ’s technology also supports drilling operations with the necessary insights and actions to optimize the drilling process.
“By deploying industry-leading technologies at SARB field, we have increased production capacity while enhancing the safety, sustainability, and efficiency of our operations, strengthening ADNOC’s position as one of the world’s lowest-cost and least-carbon intensive energy producers,” added Al Kindy.
