Air Arabia, the Sharjah-based low-cost carrier (LCC), has announced the resumption of direct flights between Sharjah and Damascus, effective July 10, 2025. The route will operate with a double daily frequency, providing seamless connectivity between Sharjah International Airport and Damascus International Airport. This resumption underscores Air Arabia’s commitment to offering customers enhanced accessibility and value-driven travel options between the UAE and Syria.
Adel Al Ali, group chief executive officer of Air Arabia, stated, “We are pleased to resume flights between Sharjah and Damascus after many years, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to enhancing regional air connectivity. This route holds particular significance in serving the Syrian diaspora in the region and meeting the growing travel demand between the UAE and Syria. By introducing a double daily service, we aim to offer greater convenience and flexibility for both business and leisure travelers, while also supporting the growth of trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.”
New route from Sharjah to Sochi launched
Additionally, this week, Air Arabia launched a new route connecting Sharjah to Sochi, Russia, operating six weekly flights to the Black Sea resort city. This new service strengthens Air Arabia’s expanding presence in Russia, bringing the total number of Russian destinations served by the airline to six. The route marks the latest addition to Air Arabia’s network, which already includes Moscow, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, and Yekaterinburg. With the introduction of Sochi, Air Arabia now connects Russia to the UAE from three hubs: Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah.
“We are glad to inaugurate our non-stop flights to Sochi, further strengthening our connectivity with Russia,” said Al Ali. “This expansion not only offers affordable travel options but also enhances tourism and trade ties between our countries.” Alexey Starostin, CEO of Aerod (operator of Sochi Airport), remarked that the new service supports Sochi’s development as an international hub, stating, “The UAE ranks among the top destinations served by Sochi Airport. With Sharjah now connected, travelers gain wider access across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa through Air Arabia’s network.”
The flight schedule has G9 440 departing Sharjah at 08:35 and arriving in Sochi at 11:30, while G9 441 departs Sochi at 12:30 and arrives in Sharjah at 17:15. This service will operate from Monday through Saturday, according to the airline.
