Ajman Transport Authority (ATA) has introduced an open and contactless payment system for public buses, marking it as the first entity in the UAE to adopt this cutting-edge technology.

This new system, WAM reported, enables passengers to make secure payments using bank cards, digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay, and wearable devices such as smartwatches.

Smart payment devices have been installed throughout the entire public bus fleet, with the service currently active on internal routes and plans to expand to external routes in the near future.

Furthermore, the authority has upgraded its “Masaar Travel” app, allowing passengers to plan their trips, track buses in real-time, link their bank cards, and access their travel history. This enhancement aims to improve public transport services and support Ajman’s digital transformation.
