ATM 2023: Dubai secures position among top 3 global tourist destinations
Dubai's hosting of ATM 2023, celebrating 30th anniversary, is testament to global tourism.

Dubai’s hosting of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2023) and celebration of its 30th anniversary is a testament to the city’s reputation as a major force in global tourism. Over 2,000 exhibitors from 150 countries participated, confirming Dubai’s pivotal role in the industry. As the city prepares for a new phase of development, with clear goals outlined in its economic agenda for the next decade, it seeks to solidify its position as one of the top three destinations for specialized tourism and business.

Additionally, Dubai aims to maintain its status as a highly sought-after global tourist destination thanks to its compelling attractions and factors that have drawn millions of visitors over the past few decades. It has earned a spot on the world’s most popular destinations for specialized travel and tourism sites.

ATM’s 30th anniversary is a testament to Dubai’s prominent position as a global tourism hub. The participation of numerous major international institutions, companies, renowned hotel chains, and tourism promotion offices is a clear indication of Dubai’s status as a leading tourist destination in the region. The city’s ability to organize major international events to the highest standards has earned it the confidence of the international community, with the “Expo 2020 Dubai” serving as a significant milestone in the history of the world’s largest and oldest exhibitions, spanning over 170 years.

During the ATM 2023, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) reported that international visitor numbers for the first quarter of the year reached 4.67 million, up 17% from the 3.97 million visitors during the same period in 2022. This increase highlights the successful efforts made by the government and private sectors in implementing an action plan to restore the sector’s momentum, guided by the wise leadership’s directives. The joint efforts have resulted in new achievements and successes.

According to His Excellency, the various sectors in Dubai operate cohesively towards a clear vision and specific goals. This integrated system is built on several elements, with the strong infrastructure being the most crucial. Dubai’s continuous investment in its infrastructure over the years has produced hotel establishments and service sectors that are not only comparable but also superior to their international counterparts. As a result, Dubai has become a formidable competitor in the global arena, particularly in the race to lead various development and creative sectors, including tourism. This has attracted major hotel chains, restaurants, and brands from around the world, making Dubai a significant player in the global competition equation.
