Bahrain experienced in February 2024 a 17 percent increase in exports of domestically produced goods, reaching BD336 million ($891.57 million) compared to BD287 million ($761.55 million) in the same month of 2023. The top 10 countries accounted for 74 percent of the total export value.

According to the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), Saudi Arabia ranked first among the countries importing Bahrain’s national products, with a value of BD93 million (28 percent). The UAE followed in second place with BD43 million (13 percent), and the U.S. came in third with BD31 million (9 percent).
The leading exported products were unwrought aluminium alloys, with a value of BD92 million (27 percent), followed by agglomerated iron ores and concentrates alloyed with BD70 million (21 percent), and processed cheese not grated or powdered with BD16 million (5 percent).
In terms of re-exports, the total value increased slightly by 0.01 percent to BD63.07 million ($167.35 million) in February 2024 compared to BD63.06 million in the same month of 2023. The top 10 countries accounted for 84 percent of the re-exported value. The UAE ranked first with BD18 million (29 percent), followed by Saudi Arabia with BD14 million (23 percent), and France with BD5 million (7 percent).
Additionally, the primary re-exported product from Bahrain was turbo-jets, with a value of BD9 million (15 percent), followed by gold ingots with BD4 million (7 percent), and four-wheel drive vehicles with BD3 million (4 percent).
Regarding imports, the value increased by 9 percent to BD475 million ($1.2 billion) in February 2024 compared to BD435 million in the same month of 2023. The top 10 countries accounted for 67 percent of the total import value.
China: Leading import supplier to Bahrain
China ranked first among the countries supplying imports to Bahrain, with a total value of BD67 million (14 percent). Brazil followed in second place with BD46 million (10 percent), and the UAE in third with BD40 million (8 percent).
Moreover, the primary imported products in Bahrain were non-agglomerated iron ores and concentrates, with a total value of BD58 million (12 percent), followed by parts for aircraft engines with BD38 million (8 percent), and other aluminium oxide with BD22 million (5 percent).
In terms of the trade balance, which represents the difference between exports and imports, Bahrain experienced a deficit of BD75 million ($199 million) in February 2024, compared to BD85 million in February 2023.
