Bahrain’s Batelco, a subsidiary of the Beyon Group, and Nokia, the prominent provider of 5G private wireless networks, have inked a deal to bring 5G private solutions to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The partnership was formalized through a signed agreement between Maitham Abdulla, CEO of Batelco, and Mahmoud El-Banna, head of Enterprise Campus Edge Business, MEA at Nokia.

By introducing 5G private wireless network solutions, Batelco aims to expand its services beyond the existing 5G public network. These solutions specifically target mission-critical industries such as oil and gas, power and electricity, manufacturing, and ports. Batelco aims to provide these sectors with exceptional connectivity performance and highly secure networks.
To achieve this goal, Batelco will utilize Nokia’s advanced technologies, including the Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) and Modular Private Wireless (MPW), as well as cutting-edge devices. Also, by leveraging these tools, Batelco aims to drive the digital transformation of mission-critical industries, marking a significant milestone in wireless technology. In addition, the deployment of these high-performing networks will empower key industries, enabling them to unlock new levels of productivity and efficiency.
Introducing robust private wireless networks
Commenting on this, Maitham Abdulla, CEO of Batelco highlighted the utilization of market expertise and Nokia‘s extensive global experience. He said the outcome of this collaboration is the successful introduction of robust private wireless networks to Bahrain’s mission-critical industries. In addition, this development is expected to bring about transformative effects on worker safety, innovation, and revenue generation across various sectors, Abdulla added.

For his part, Mahmoud El-Banna, head of Enterprise Campus Edge Business, MEA at Nokia underlined Nokia’s position as the market leader in 5G private wireless networks. El-Banna further stated that the collaboration with Batelco enables them to provide exceptional solutions that address the current and future network requirements in Bahrain. This joint effort is expected to facilitate the adoption of industrial-grade private networks in mission-critical sectors, serving as a catalyst for digital transformation and progress towards meeting performance goals, he added.
