Businesswomen in the UAE continue to achieve exceptional milestones that contribute to strengthening the national economy while providing innovative solutions for the community. The latest report from the Emirates Businesswomen Council reveals that businesswomen make up 18 percent of all entrepreneurs in the UAE.

The report also noted that 48.8 percent of these women hold executive-director positions, while 61.4 percent own their businesses individually. Notably, 77.6 percent of women-owned businesses are led by women under the age of 40. This reflects their significant role in boosting the national economy.

The number of businesswomen in the UAE has steadily risen in recent years with support from the government and society. This enhances the UAE’s status as a leading destination for female empowerment and entrepreneurship in the business sector.

According to a report, the share of women in the workforce also rose to 34.6 percent in 2024, up from 32.5 percent in 2023.

The report further revealed that, during the first half of 2024, over 2,000 new businesses were established and registered by Emirati businesswomen. That is around 2 percent of all new business registrations in the UAE during the same period.

Technology supports female participation

In a bid to support businesswomen across the UAE, a group of women launched an innovative digital platform offering consulting and financing services for women-led projects. The platform utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze data and provide recommendations.

Additionally, another group of businesswomen introduced a new smart application to assist in managing small and medium enterprises, providing comprehensive solutions for digital marketing and human resource management.

The report added that businesswomen across the UAE have continued to excel in launching innovative projects in renewable energy and environmental sustainability. These projects include solar energy production from residential and commercial rooftops and the establishment of a startup specializing in remote healthcare services using virtual reality technology with an investment of AED200 million.

Female entrepreneurs also launched an e-commerce platform connecting local artisans and designers with the global market. During the first year of operation, this platform achieved revenues exceeding AED150 million.
