Additionally, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and President of COP28, commended the success of COP and its effective response to global outcomes.

In his address at the closing meeting of COP28, Al Jaber made the following points:

  • We have accomplished significant achievements together within a short period of time. Over the course of two weeks, we have dedicated our efforts to building a better future for our people and the planet.
  • Recognizing the need for a new course of action, we have focused on our primary goal and successfully charted that path.
  • We have provided a comprehensive response to the global outcomes and fulfilled all necessary negotiation requirements.
  • Based on scientific evidence, we have presented a robust action plan to preserve the possibility of achieving the 1.5°C target.
  • This well-balanced action plan contributes to emission reduction, addresses adaptation gaps, enhances global climate finance mechanisms, and meets the requirements for loss and damage management.
  • We have mobilized pledges for new funding exceeding $85 billion to address the consequences of climate change.
