dnata Logistics, the global freight forwarder and logistics services provider under the (Dubai National Air Travel Agency (dnata), has officially commenced construction on a new 57,000m² warehouse in Dubai South. This development, Dubai Media Office reported, is part of the largest single-urban master project in the region, concentrating on aviation, logistics, and real estate. Its strategic location near Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) positions dnata Logistics to play a vital role in enhancing the emirate’s status as a key international logistics center.

The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by HE Khalifa Al Zaffin, executive chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South, alongside Steve Allen, CEO of dnata, and senior executives from both organizations.

Significant investment and capacity expansion

This facility represents a significant investment of AED100 million ($27.2 million) and is set to bolster the company’s operational capabilities in response to the increasing demand for cargo and logistics services in the region. With the capacity to handle 400,000 tons of cargo annually, it will enhance dnata Logistics’ storage capacity by 50 percent and create over 50 new direct jobs.

Advanced technology integration

Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the facility will include automated systems for cargo storage and retrieval, as well as efficient truck loading and offloading processes. An AI-driven warehouse management system will also be utilized to offer enhanced efficiency and value to partners.

Commitment to sustainability

In alignment with dnata’s global sustainability strategy, the warehouse has been meticulously designed to prioritize environmental efficiency. It will incorporate solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems, and advanced energy-efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The facility aims to achieve global LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification within one year of becoming operational.

Construction timeline

Furthermore, construction is currently underway, with completion anticipated by November 2025. Once operational, dnata Logistics will provide world-class services from 11 locations across the UAE.

Sean Bradley, managing director of dnata Logistics, conveyed his enthusiasm about the new facility, indicating that breaking ground on this state-of-the-art structure represents a significant investment in the company’s future expansion. He noted that as they broaden their product offerings and explore new markets, the warehouse would enhance their services for customers while keeping them at the forefront of operational innovation.

He also highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability, explaining that every aspect of the warehouse was developed with a focus on environmental responsibility, ranging from energy efficiency to waste reduction. Bradley further mentioned that the innovative features of the facility would facilitate responsible growth and positively impact the communities they serve.

Mohsen Ahmad, the CEO of the Logistics District at Dubai South, remarked on the significance of witnessing the groundbreaking of dnata’s innovative facility, stating that it would greatly benefit the thriving Dubai South area. He expressed the organization’s dedication to facilitating dnata’s growth through this new development as part of a cohesive ecosystem and emphasized their commitment to enhancing Dubai’s status as a global logistics hub.
