Dubai announces public sector holiday for Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

The circular does not include those who work in departments that manage public services

The human resources department of the Dubai government has issued a circular stating that Sunday, September 15, will be a holiday to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.).

Regular working hours will resume on Monday, September 16.

This does not include departments or services that serve the public and manage public services, or those who work in shifts. Work timings for these categories of employees will be determined by their departments so that operational efficiency remains optimal.

Public, private sector holidays in UAE

Earlier, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) issued a circular to all ministries and federal entities regarding the holiday for Prophet’s birthday in the federal government.

Similarly, a circular was issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), announcing that Sunday, September 15, 2024 (Rabi al-Awwal 12, 1446H) is a paid public holiday for private sector employees to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammed (Peace Be Upon Him).
