Dubai received 8.1 million international visitors in the first seven months of 2022, compared to approximately 2.85 million tourists in the same period last year, representing a growth rate of 184.2 percent, according to data from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).
Data revealed that India led the top sources regions for international visitors to Dubai between January and July 2022, with over 975,000 visitors, followed by Oman with approximately 880,000. The total number of visitors from the Saudi market, on the other hand, reached approximately 678 thousand visitors, while the UK recorded 568,000 visitors.
Russia came in fifth with approximately 348,000 visitors, followed by the U.S. with 309 thousand visitors, France with 234,000 visitors, Germany with 229 thousand visitors, and Pakistan and Iran with 224 and 188 thousand visitors, respectively.
There were about 141,000 available rooms in 774 establishments during the seven-month period, both of which are up about 9 percent from last year’s at 129,318 and 718, respectively, the report added.
Last June, Dubai DET reported that local guests made up 53 percent of total hotel guests in the emirate during the previous year, which recorded approximately 12.4 million hotel guests.
