Dubai CommerCity, the first and leading free zone dedicated exclusively to digital commerce, has experienced a surge in its operations throughout 2023. The number of orders fulfilled through Dubai CommerCity’s digital trade platform grew by 158 percent, it said on Wednesday. The free zone is a joint venture between the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and Wasl Properties.

Unprecedented growth

In a report, Dubai CommerCity revealed that the volume of goods processed through its transit platform, DCC Way, surged by 56 percent in 2023. Simultaneously, the number of orders fulfilled through its digital trade platform witnessed an exponential growth of 158 percent. Furthermore, the free zone witnessed a remarkable 92 percent increase in goods shipping operations from its distribution centers, all facilitated by its cutting-edge digital trade platforms.

Commenting on the achievements, Abdulrahman Shahin, executive vice president of operations at Dubai CommerCity, said: “The remarkable growth in Dubai CommerCity’s digital trade operations and transit portal reflects Dubai’s positioning as a global hub for the digital economy.”

Shahin highlighted that these achievements underscore Dubai’s position as a regional economic hub and a leading logistics center. Moreover, the free zone’s growth aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double Dubai’s gross domestic product and attract foreign direct investment.
