Dubai is gearing up for this year’s festival of lights, which will unite all communities across the city from October 25 to November 7, 2024. This year’s program is packed with Diwali entertainment and celebrations, immersive cultural experiences, comedy, musical tributes, theatre productions, free-to-attend community events, and much more.
So mark your calendars and celebrate Diwali this year with a series of fireworks displays that will light up the night skies of Dubai.
Firework displays
Specially curated by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), the calendar of Diwali events will immerse friends and families in the spirit of the season, bringing wonder and joy to all.
This year, visitors can watch the festival of lights’ fireworks displays at two of Dubai’s destinations: Al Seef on October 25, and Global Village on October 25-26 and November 1-2, all at 21:00.
Noor: Three-day cultural fair
A highlight of this year’s celebrations is Noor – Festival of Lights. The fair will take place at Al Seef from October 25 to 27 and will feature lights, artistic expressions, interactive experiences, and performances, all set against Diwali décor and fireworks in Al Seef’s lifestyle destination.
Activities will also include puppet processions, theatre shows, poetry recitations, musical performances, stand-up comedy, painting and design workshops and traditional Indian delicacies across the 1.8-kilometer promenade. Visitors can explore Al Seef’s offerings, including a traditional souk and alleyways bustling with restaurants, boutiques and attractions.
Deepavali Utsav 2024
Another cultural event taking place during Dubai’s festival of lights is Deepavali Utsav 2024. The event will take place on October 26 at Etisalat Academy, Dubai. This celebration will feature Indian folk dance performances and a fun affair with games, rides, and activities for all ages. The event will also offer a variety of Indian delicacies from food stalls, ensuring a festive atmosphere for all.
Deep Utsav 2024 will also take place on October 27 at Glendale International School, Oud Metha. The event will feature entertainment and activities for all ages and communities. It will include games, competitions, and kids’ activities. The festival will also include live DJ performances, dhol tasha drummers, and dance performances. Guests can enjoy food and festive stalls offering treats and unique finds.
Global Village celebrations
Global Village will also host a Diwali celebration from October 28 to November 3 as part of the Dubai festival of lights, featuring rangoli art painting, performances on the main stage, and fireworks.
The Festival of Lights Market at the India pavilion will offer a Diwali shopping experience. Dining options will also showcase Indian culinary delights, from traditional street food at the Indian Chaat Bazaar to dining at several restaurants. Entry tickets are available via the Global Village mobile app, website, or on-site ticketing booths.
Best places for shopping
Dubai’s festival of lights will provide visitors with several opportunities to shop, including the Diwali Fiesta Exhibition at Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers – Hotel & Residence on October 26. This Diwali shopping experience will include festive wear, jewelry, accessories, home decor, skincare and handicrafts.
Also on October 26, DoubleTree by Hilton M Square will host the Diwali Edit – Fashion & Luxury Exhibition, featuring fashion designers, jewelry designers and home decor.

Shows and entertainment offerings
Dubai’s festival of lights will also feature several shows and plays that guests can look forward to. Fans of comedy can look forward to Romesh Ranganathan’s return to Dubai this Diwali, with a new show at Coca-Cola Arena on October 25. The U.K. stand-up comedian will bring his wit and observational humor for one night only.
Meanwhile, music lovers can enjoy The Unforgettables, a tribute to the late Jagjit Singh, running until October 26 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School. Tauseef Akhtar will perform the maestro’s greatest hits.
Theatre enthusiasts can also attend Meera: Echoes of Love, a performance blending dance, theatre, and music at Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park, on October 26. The production features seventy local artists and celebrates the strength of women and the emotions of love.
India’s theatre thriller Ashvin Gidwani’s Barff will also take place at the Zabeel Theatre on November 8. Written, directed, and performed by Saurabh Shukla, the play promises suspense and drama.
