Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced today that all public parking will be free of charge on June 27, which marks the Hijri New Year holiday. The authority noted, however, that this decision excludes multi-level parking.

The RTA also announced the working hours for various services during the Hijri New Year (1447H) holiday. The revised schedule includes Customer Happiness Centres, public buses, Dubai Metro and Tram, marine transport services and service provider centres (vehicle technical testing).

Customer Happiness Centres

All RTA Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on the occasion of Hijri New Year. However, smart centers in Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha and the Head Office will remain operational 24/7 as usual.

Dubai Metro and Tram

The RTA also revealed that the Dubai Metro will operate from 5 AM to 1 AM the following day during the Hijri New Year holiday. Meanwhile, Dubai Tram will operate from 6 AM on June 27 to 1 AM the next day.

Service Provider Centres

In a statement, the RTA said that all Service Provider Centres will be closed during the holiday and will resume normal business hours on June 28.

In addition, it advised Dubai residents who might use marine transport on that day to check the working hours on its website.

Hijri New Year in Dubai

Last week, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) issued a circular declaring Friday, June 27, 2025, as the official public holiday for Dubai government entities, departments and institutions in observance of Hijri New Year.

The circular specified that this holiday does not apply to entities with employees working in shifts or those providing essential public services or managing critical facilities. These organizations may establish suitable working hours for their staff based on operational needs to ensure seamless service delivery.

The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation also announced that Friday, June 27, 2025, will mark the Hijri New Year 1447 AH holiday. The day will be an official paid holiday for all employees working in private sector companies and institutions across the UAE.
