Dubai International Airport passenger traffic is set to surpass 90 million by the end of this year, according to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), chairman of Dubai Airports, and chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group. 

Sheikh Ahmed made this statement during a media briefing held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, on the sidelines of the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024.

Last year, Dubai International Airport welcomed around 87 million passengers.

Sheikh Ahmed underscored the need for a larger airport in Dubai to accommodate the growing air traffic. He stated that Al Maktoum International Airport will serve as a catalyst for the anticipated expansion of the aviation sector in Dubai for the next 40 years.

This development aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33,” which encompasses 100 transformative projects and ambitious economic targets aimed at doubling Dubai’s economy over the next decade. It also aims to solidify Dubai’s position among the top three global cities.

Sheikh Ahmed further emphasized the remarkable growth of Dubai’s economy in recent years and its progress towards achieving the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33.”

He highlighted the resilient performance of various economic sectors in the emirate, particularly aviation, travel, and tourism, which reaffirms Dubai’s status as a leading global hub for trade, business, and tourism.
