The Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) has introduced the Dubai AI Security Policy, representing a forward-thinking and innovative initiative in the region. This policy is designed to enhance trust in AI technologies and solutions, encourage their advancement, and address electronic security challenges, WAM reported.
The announcement was made during DESC’s role as the official cybersecurity partner at the inaugural Dubai AI and Web3 Festival 2024. This event, organized by the Dubai AI Campus in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office, and the Dubai International Financial Centre, took place at Madinat Jumeirah on September 11-12.
Enhancing cybersecurity and digital infrastructure
Yousuf Al Shaibani, CEO of the Dubai Electronic Security Centre, emphasized that the launch of the AI Security Policy highlights DESC’s dedication to fulfilling the vision of the UAE’s leadership. This vision aims to establish the UAE as a global leader in AI by 2031, focusing on the development of an integrated system that utilizes AI across key sectors, in accordance with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031.
He noted that this policy represents a significant milestone in the Centre’s efforts to implement Dubai’s annual plan, expediting the adoption of AI applications and technologies as directed by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Al Shaibani mentioned that the policy serves as a foundational element in supporting the roadmap to improve the quality of life in Dubai through AI integration in essential sectors, aligning with the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double Dubai’s economy in the next decade and rank it among the top three global economic cities.
Additionally, Amer Sharaf, CEO of the Cybersecurity Systems and Services Sector at DESC, noted that the policy represents a significant qualitative addition to the array of innovative projects and policies introduced by the Centre. He further indicated that this initiative aligns with its mission to foster a secure and dependable cyberspace that bolsters Dubai’s digital infrastructure, thereby enhancing the emirate’s vision of reinforcing its global leadership in cybersecurity.

Strengthening trust and investment in AI
This initiative is crucial for building confidence, nurturing the development of AI technologies, and reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global AI hub. It also aims to safeguard innovations from cyber threats, promote collaboration between public and private sectors, and attract investment in AI to the Emirate.
Moreover, the festival attracted over 5,000 business leaders from 100 countries, along with 500 investors and about 100 exhibitors, all coming together to discuss the latest advancements in AI, Web3, and digital economies. Furthermore, these endeavors are part of DESC’s broader mission to support national initiatives that enhance Dubai’s position as a global innovation center, drive economic growth, and create a safer, more sustainable future.
