Apple unveiled a series of devices and features at its annual event in Cupertino, California. While the much awaited iPhone 16 was the star attraction, the company also launched the Apple Watch Series 10, a new Apple Watch Ultra 2 and new AirPods as well.

Moreover, the company also set a deadline to when Apple intelligence would be coming to its devices — sometime in October.

The iPhone 16 was launched in four iterations: the iPhone 16, the iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with a custom-built A18 chip and feature Camera Control, which brings new ways to interact with the camera system, helping users capture memories, easily and quickly.

The camera system features a 48MP fusion camera with a 2x telephoto option, giving users two cameras in one, while a new ultra-wide camera enables macro photography. The new A18 chip claims to deliver a huge leap in performance and efficiency, enabling demanding AAA games, as well as a big boost in battery life.

Both models will be available in five bold colors: black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come with a strong back glass, a water- and dust-resistant design and the latest-generation Ceramic Shield that is 50 percent tougher than the first generation. The internal design on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus has also been reengineered to allow for an even larger battery and to dissipate heat, while making battery service easier. The devices are available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display sizes.

iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max feature a new 48MP fusion camera with a faster quad-pixel sensor that enables 4K120 fps video recording in Dolby Vision.

Now let’s talk about the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. Again, the two devices feature larger display sizes and an all-new Camera Control to quickly access the advanced camera system. They are powered by the stronger A18 Pro chip. The devices feature a new 48MP fusion camera with a faster quad-pixel sensor that enables 4K120 fps video recording in Dolby Vision. Additional advancements include a new 48MP ultra-wide camera for higher-resolution photography, including macro; a 5x telephoto camera on both Pro models, and studio-quality mics to record more true-to-life audio. The titanium design makes the devices strong yet lightweight with larger display sizes.

The new Pro lineup features the thinnest borders of any Apple product and introduces larger display sizes: 6.3 inches on Pro and 6.9 inches on Pro Max — the largest iPhone display ever.

Both models will be available in four finishes: black titanium, natural titanium, white titanium, and desert titanium.

All four iPhone 16 models are built for Apple Intelligence.

Pre-orders and prices

Pre-orders for the four iPhone models begin on September 13 at 4pm UAE time, and the devices will be available starting September 20.

The iPhone 16 has a starting price of AED3,399, while the 16 Plus will start at AED3,799.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro begins from AED4,299 while the Pro Max starts from AED5,099.

Apple Watch Series 10

The Apple Watch Series 10 features a refined design and new capabilities. Apple says it’s the thinnest Apple Watch yet and the most advanced as well. It features new sleep apnea notifications, faster charging, water depth and temperature sensing, plus new health and fitness insights and intelligence in watchOS 11.

Apple Watch Series 10 is available in both aluminum and titanium. The new Apple Watch lineup is already available for pre-orders with availability beginning September 20.

Apple Watch Series 10 is nearly 10 percent thinner than Apple Watch Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9. It comes with an 18-hour battery life.

Its larger display offers up to 30 percent more active screen area than Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, and Series 6, and up to 9 percent more than Apple Watch Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9.

Apple Intelligence

Apple also announced that Apple Intelligence will start rolling out next month with iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, with more features launching in the coming months.

It will first launch in U.S. English, and will quickly expand to include localized English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. in December, with additional language support — such as Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish — coming next year.

Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, harnessing the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

Many of the models that power Apple Intelligence run entirely on device, and Private Cloud Compute offers the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers. The first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available next month.
