Dubai Media Council explores strategic partnerships with X Corp

Mona Al Marri, vice chairperson and managing director of the Dubai Media Council, recently met with Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X Corp (formerly Twitter), to explore new avenues for strategic partnerships. During the meeting, Al Marri highlighted Dubai’s dynamic media ecosystem which includes the world’s leading media and technology companies. Notably, X established its first Middle East and North Africa office in Dubai in 2015.

The meeting aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, to enhance cooperation with leading digital media companies. It also supports the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to position the city as a global leader in the digital economy.

Advancing Dubai’s media excellence

Al Marri emphasized the council’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with X. “We are continuously seeking to deepen partnerships with global technology leaders to leverage media and digital platforms to support the influencer community and encourage the production of compelling content that connects with audiences worldwide,” Al Marri said.

The meeting also discussed new ways of advancing media excellence and skill development, underscoring Dubai’s commitment to fostering innovation and talent in the region’s digital media landscape. The discussion also highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange, sharing of best practices, and joint training initiatives to boost digital skills, promote job creation, and empower Emirati talent in the media industry.

In addition, the Dubai Media Council-X discussions addressed policy and regulatory frameworks for digital media and AI, as well as X’s interest in investing in youth development. The meeting was attended by Nehal Badri, secretary-general of the Dubai Media Council, and Mohammed Al Mulla, CEO of Dubai Media Incorporated.

Sheikh Hamdan meets Yaccarino

Earlier, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, met Yaccarino.

Sheikh Hamdan’s meeting with the CEO of one of the world’s largest social media platforms underlined the UAE and Dubai’s commitment to forging partnerships with leading global technology companies, as part of its goal of consolidating its status as an international hub for future-focused innovations.

Sheikh Hamdan said that Dubai and the UAE continue to build mutually beneficial cooperation with leading players in the digital media industry and explore synergies that align with the country’s goal to bring about digital transformation across various spheres of life.

Highlighting the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to generate AED100 billion in annual economic value through digital transformation over the next decade, His Highness said X is a valuable partner in the country’s efforts to drive innovation and adoption of new technologies.

“We are excited to explore how this partnership can create lasting value for both the UAE and X, setting an example for impactful collaboration between a global technology leader and one of the world’s most future-ready nations,” he added.
