These projects focus on planting and enhancing significant intersections and roadways along Sheikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads. These initiatives further cover an impressive area of over 1.4 million square meters.

Commitment to sustainable beauty

This effort is part of Dubai Municipality’s ongoing commitment to enhance the city’s appeal. It aims to establish a distinctive visual identity that harmonizes urban elements with lush green spaces. The initiative beautifies Dubai’s key intersections in accordance with top-tier sustainable planting practices that meet international standards.

Enhancing green coverage

To further its mission of increasing Dubai’s greenery in an environmentally responsible manner, the Municipality has introduced 2.5 million flowers and ornamental plants, along with 6,500 trees, all supported by advanced, water-efficient irrigation systems.

Alignment with the Green Dubai Project

H.E. Focus on quality of life

Additionally, Al Hajri highlighted that these projects demonstrate the Municipality’s commitment to building green infrastructure and creating a healthy, comfortable environment for both residents and visitors. By expanding green spaces, the goal is to improve quality of life. The initiative also aims to uphold environmental sustainability. Additionally, it seeks to optimize natural resources through smart irrigation systems that ensure efficient water usage, he further added.

Sheikh Zayed Road intersections

Dubai Municipality has implemented extensive planting and beautification efforts at key intersections along Sheikh Zayed Road. This road is the main arterial route of Dubai. Four significant projects were completed, covering a total area of 843,000 square meters. These include the intersections of Sheikh Zayed Road with Al Yelayes Street and Al Jameel Street (formerly Jarn Al Sabkha Street), as well as the flanks of Sheikh Zayed Road stretching from the intersection with Umm Suqeim Street to Al Yelayes Street, covering 70 kilometers.

Extensive planting activities

Moreover, the planting activities at these intersections and along the primary roadways involved nearly 1.5 million flower and plant seedlings, alongside 3,500 trees. In addition, 290,000 square meters of soil mulching were applied to prevent erosion while enhancing the area’s natural beauty.
