Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has initiated a project aimed at enhancing road connectivity across 19 residential areas in Dubai, covering a total distance of 11.5 kilometers. This initiative encompasses traffic enhancements, the addition of roadside parking, improved sidewalks, and upgraded street lighting.

Addressing urban needs

This undertaking, Dubai Media Office reported, responds to the needs arising from Dubai’s expanding population and urban development, showcasing RTA’s dedication to the ongoing enhancement of the emirate’s road and infrastructure systems. The project aspires to boost residents’ happiness and well-being, enhance road safety, and ensure that Dubai’s streets uphold the highest standards of efficiency and quality for all users.

Enhancing accessibility

The newly established road connections will improve accessibility and facilitate smoother vehicle movements in and out of residential zones by paving roads, optimizing traffic flow, and potentially decreasing travel time by as much as 40 percent. Additionally, these improvements will provide a safe and seamless driving experience for all road users, aligning with RTA’s vision of becoming the Global Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility.

Project timeline and areas

RTA has outlined a timeline for the project, which will implement connections in the following 19 residential areas: Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Zabeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Hudaiba, Al Quoz 1, Al Quoz 3, Al Qusais 2, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Al Ramool, Umm Suqeim 1, Al Mizhar 1, and Al Mizhar 2. Completion of the project is anticipated by the second quarter of 2026.

RTA remains committed to enhancing traffic flow and operational efficiency by implementing rapid traffic solutions and improvements, increasing road capacity, and ensuring a beneficial impact on the overall road network in Dubai.
