This initiative demonstrates Dubai's commitment to a supportive work environment, enhancing well-being and productivity while encouraging similar private sector policies.

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department has sanctioned a flexible working hours and remote work policy for government employees during the holy month of Ramadan 1446H (2025). This decision resonates with the leadership’s declaration of 2025 as the “Year of the Community” and demonstrates the Dubai Government’s dedication to offering optimal working conditions that bolster employees while upholding societal values during significant occasions.

The endorsed policy broadens the application of flexible hours and remote work options throughout Ramadan. Government entities in Dubai are permitted to provide employees with up to three hours of flexible working time each day, ensuring a minimum of 5.5 working hours from Monday to Thursday and three hours on Fridays.

Remote work guidelines

Employees are allowed to work remotely for up to two days per week. This is contingent upon work requirements and assigned duties. Coordination with direct supervisors is necessary to maintain smooth operations. The arrangement should not compromise productivity or daily responsibilities. It aligns with public interest considerations.
