Dubai remained as the top international destination from India, with the Mumbai-Dubai route ranking as the busiest, offering 234,000 seats, despite a 2 percent decrease from last year. Following closely is the Delhi-Dubai route with 197,000 seats, and the Delhi-London Heathrow route in third place with 135,000 seats.
According to a report by OAG, a global travel data provider, international air capacity from India in June reached 17.1 million seats, reflecting a 7 percent growth compared to the same month last year. The report highlights that international travel capacity accounts for 32 percent of the total airline capacity, while domestic flights dominate with a substantial 68 percent share.
Low-cost airlines continue to lead the international market, holding 69 percent of the 17.1 million seats. IndiGo maintains the largest market share in this sector, with a 49 percent capacity share, translating to 12.2 million seats in June—a 12 percent increase year-over-year. Air India follows with 3.8 million seats, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 41.8 percent.

UAE retains strong market share among international destinations
Air India Express, the low-cost subsidiary of Air India, saw the most substantial growth, adding 1.6 million seats year-on-year—an impressive 131 percent increase—bringing its total to 2.8 million seats, making it the third-largest airline in India. Conversely, SpiceJet experienced the largest reduction in capacity, with a decrease of 206,000 seats, or 27 percent, positioning it as the fifth-largest carrier in the country.
The United Arab Emirates remains the busiest international destination from India, with 1.1 million seats and a 29 percent market share, reflecting a 9 percent increase from the previous year. Thailand follows as the next busiest international destination, experiencing a notable 22 percent growth in capacity, with 299,000 seats, while Singapore is close behind with 285,000 seats, maintaining similar capacity levels as last year.
Domestically, Delhi remains the busiest airport in India, handling 2.6 million seats in June 2025, although this represents a 4 percent decrease compared to June 2024. Mumbai and Bengaluru rank second and third, respectively, in domestic flight capacity.
