Egypt, represented by Telecom Egypt and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with TEJAS, an Indian network firm. This is according to a statement released by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt.

As per the terms of the MoU, TEJAS will produce its communication products in Egypt, utilizing fiber optic technology. Additionally, the agreement entails the creation of several key initiatives, including an academy dedicated to capacity building, a research and development center, and a technical support center.

Speaking on the occasion, Eng. Mohamed Nasr El-Din, CEO and managing director of Telecom Egypt, expressed his delight in entering into a long-term strategic partnership with Tejas Networks, a renowned telecom and networking products company based in India and affiliated with the Tata Group. He highlighted Telecom Egypt’s consistent efforts to enhance its network infrastructure and technical capabilities through collaborations with leading global companies. The objective of the present MoU is to equip Telecom Egypt with cutting-edge communications technology while ensuring the provision of top-quality infrastructure services.

Collaborating for the vision of digital Egypt

Mr. Anand Athreya, the CEO and Managing Director of Tejas Networks, expressed the significance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tejas Networks and Telecom Egypt. He further stated that this agreement represents a crucial milestone for both organizations, as they collaborate to accelerate the vision of a Digital Egypt. Mr. Athreya emphasized the importance of leveraging Tejas Networks’ best practices and insights gained from their successful track record in designing and implementing over 500 complex networks, both within India and internationally.

“We are committed to serving as a trusted advisor and technology partner for Egypt’s digital transformation journey while nurturing its local ecosystem in telecom manufacturing, R&D, network planning, installation and maintenance,” he added.

Favorable opportunity for business expansion in MEA

Mr. Yogesh Verma, the Vice President of Tejas Networks for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region, highlighted the company’s extensive experience and in-depth understanding of the local requirements and operating conditions in the MEA region, which they have gained through a decade of operations. He noted that Tejas Networks has recently introduced their 4G and 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) products to the market, thereby establishing a comprehensive portfolio for the construction of both fixed and mobile networks. Verma further commented that the MoU presents a highly favorable opportunity for Tejas Networks to not only expand its business in the MEA region but also to strengthen its collaboration with Telecom Egypt and other customers in the country.
