The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has announced that Sunday, March 30, 2025 to Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be a paid holiday for all private sector employees across the country on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The Ministry further clarified that if the month of Ramadan concludes in the 30th day, the holiday will be extended to Wednesday, April 2, 2025.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) in the UAE announced earlier this week that the Eid al-Fitr holiday for the federal government sector will be from 1st to 3rd Shawwal 1446 AH, with work resuming on 4th Shawwal. If Ramadan 2025 lasts for 30 days, 30th of Ramadan will also be a public holiday, extending the Eid break.
Ramadan began on March 1, following the sighting of the Ramadan crescent moon on the eve of February 28.
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and in the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) in the UAE announced a reduction of two working hours each day for private sector employees and federal authorities during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
MoHRE noted, “In accordance with the requirements and nature of their work, companies may apply flexible or remote work patterns within the limits of the daily working hours during Ramadan.”
This announcement is part of the implementation of Federal Decree Law No. 33 of 2021 concerning the Regulation of Labor Relations and its subsequent amendments.
FAHR issued on Sunday a circular setting the official working hours during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1446 Hijri for the employees of federal authorities.
According to the circular, the official working hours for ministries and federal authorities will be from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday.
FAHR stressed that ministries and federal authorities could implement flexible working or remote work schedules during Ramadan, in line with their specific requirements and within the limits of the working hours approved per day.
The Authority also noted that federal government departments will allow a maximum of 70 percent of their staff to work from home on Fridays during Ramadan according to the approved regulations.
