Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported a remarkable surge in public transport usage during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday of 1446H / 2025, which took place from March 30 to April 1. The total number of passengers utilizing public transport, taxis, and shared mobility services reached an impressive 6.39 million, Dubai Media Office reported.

Breakdown of passenger numbers
- Dubai Metro: The Metro, which operates on both the Red and Green Lines, transported 2.428 million riders during the holiday period.
- Dubai Tram: The Tram service recorded 111,130 passengers.
- Public buses: Buses across the city carried 1.330 million commuters.
- Marine transport services: Marine transport, including abras, ferries, and water taxis, saw 408,991 boardings.
- Taxis: Taxis, which include services from Dubai Taxi and various franchise operators, served 1.687 million users.
- Shared mobility services: This category, which encompasses e-hail vehicles, hourly car rentals, and on-demand buses, registered 429,616 riders.
This increase in passenger numbers reflects the growing reliance on public transport and shared mobility options during festive periods in Dubai, showcasing the effectiveness of the RTA’s services in accommodating the needs of residents and visitors alike during busy times.
