Emirates expects a surge in traveler volumes arriving in and departing from Dubai during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. The peak period for departures from Terminal 3 is projected to occur on March 28 and 29, as well as April 5 and 6. During these dates, more than 80,000 customers are anticipated to travel abroad for their spring break holidays, according to a statement.

Given the anticipated traffic congestion near the entrances of Terminal 3, Emirates strongly advises customers departing from Dubai to allow extra time for their journeys to avoid any potential delays.

Passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport up to three hours prior to their flight. It’s essential to pay attention to boarding times to ensure timely arrival at the departure gate without any delays, the airline said.

Check-in options available to customers

Customers can take advantage of a variety of check-in choices, including online check-in via emirates.com or the Emirates App, which opens 48 hours before departure. Additionally, Emirates City Check-In and Travel Store in ICD Brookfield Place are available from 24 hours up to four hours before departure—except for those traveling to the US. Home check-in can also be booked from their residence or hotel. Convenient check-in kiosks and baggage drop facilities are located in Terminal 3 along with mobile check-in ports spread throughout the terminal. For those traveling from the northern Emirates, check-in is available at the Ajman Central Bus Terminal from 24 hours up to four hours before their flight.

Luggage drop-off options for travelers

Customers have the option to drop off their luggage at the airport the night before their travel at no additional cost. They can also check in early and drop off their bags 24 hours before departure or 12 hours before departure for flights to the US. This service allows travelers to head directly to immigration or the Smart Tunnel for a seamless processing experience.

Passport control and security recommendations

It is advisable for customers to clear passport control and security at least 90 minutes before their departure, the statement noted. They should aim to arrive at their gate no later than 60 minutes prior to their flight if booked in Premium Economy or Economy Class, and 45 minutes before departure if traveling in First or Business Class. Boarding gates will close 20 minutes before departure. Passengers arriving late will not be able to travel, as Emirates will strictly enforce check-in and gate closure timings to ensure that flights depart on schedule, Emirates noted.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has announced that Sunday, March 30, 2025 to Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be a paid holiday for all private sector employees across the country on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.

The Ministry further clarified that if the month of Ramadan concludes in the 30th day, the holiday will be extended to Wednesday, April 2, 2025.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) in the UAE announced earlier this week that the Eid al-Fitr holiday for the federal government sector will be from 1st to 3rd Shawwal 1446 AH, with work resuming on 4th Shawwal. If Ramadan 2025 lasts for 30 days, 30th of Ramadan will also be a public holiday, extending the Eid break.

Ramadan began on March 1, following the sighting of the Ramadan crescent moon on the eve of February 28.
