In the past two weeks, Emirates has successfully served over 1.7 million passengers on more than 5,800 flights across its global network, maintaining scheduled services by rerouting flights to avoid conflict zones as tensions in the Middle East erupted.

In a statement on Tuesday, the airline said passengers experienced minimal disruptions to their travel plans after last night’s regional events, with regularly scheduled flights resuming within a few short hours.

Airline activates disruption plan

Emirates quickly activated its robust contingency and disruption plans, with no diversions, only a small number of cancellations, and a few flights experiencing longer flight paths due to airspace congestion. The airline also took immediate action by suspending flights only to areas directly impacted by conflict while maintaining operations to all other destinations.

Services to Amman and Beirut were briefly suspended but resumed quickly, demonstrating Emirates’ ability to adapt its operations while prioritizing safety, and helping thousands of families start their summer holidays.

“The safety of Emirates’ passengers and crew is its absolute priority, and the airline would never fly if it were not safe to do so. Emirates continuously monitors developments, coordinates with aviation authorities, and assesses every potential risk to ensure all flights are safely rerouted away from conflict zones, all the while meeting the most stringent regulatory requirements,” the statement added.

Emirates gears up for busy summer travel season

In the last two weeks, Emirates kept customers informed with regular operational website updates as well as on its social media channels, and reservations teams helped reaccommodate affected customers.

As the airline gears up for the busy summer travel season, it will continue to actively monitor developments in coordination with the relevant authorities, and the airline’s priority will always be to ensure safe and smooth operations by adapting quickly and appropriately, so that customers can travel with confidence.

“For decades, the airline has successfully navigated challenges while maintaining its commitment to connecting customers to their destinations safely, efficiently and comfortably, all while delivering exceptional service onboard and on ground. The UAE’s leadership has put in place strong contingency plans and systems to support essential services, empowering Emirates to maintain safe, uninterrupted operations,” Emirates added.

Dubai Airports resume full operations

Late Monday night, Dubai Airports announced that it had “resumed full operations” following a temporary suspension prompted by Iran’s overnight strike on Qatar’s U.S. airbase at Al Udeid. Meanwhile, Qatar reopened its airspace in the early hours of Tuesday. The General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed the resumption of air traffic in Qatar’s airspace.

Dubai Airports, which manages both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport, stated late Monday night that it was collaborating with airlines to ensure that flights proceeded as scheduled. However, it cautioned that travelers’ plans might be affected.

“Dubai Airports has resumed full operations at its airports in the emirate following a temporary precautionary pause,” a statement from Dubai Airports indicated. “The safety and well-being of all travelers and aviation staff remain the highest priority. While Dubai Airports is working with airlines to ensure flights operate according to schedule, some flights may experience delays or cancellations. Travelers are advised to stay informed by checking regularly with their airlines for the latest updates.”
