The Emirates Group celebrated the invaluable contributions of Emirati women and their essential role in promoting excellence within the aviation and travel sectors in the UAE.

In a press release issued today, the group emphasized that Emirati women are charting their own professional journeys across various business functions at Emirates Group, helping to establish a robust talent pipeline for future aviation professionals.

Women make up approximately 38 percent of the Group’s Emirati workforce, and in the past financial year, the organization welcomed a record number of Emirati women into its ranks. This development underscores the Emirates Group’s dedication to incorporating Emirati women into the expanding aviation sector, equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and expertise to flourish and realize their full potential.

This year, the Emirates Group achieved another significant milestone, recording a 20 percent increase in the number of Emirati women appointed to leadership positions compared to the previous year. Currently, over 200 Emirati women hold leadership roles within the organization, driving growth across various business functions.

Promoting female leadership

In March 2024, the Emirates Group announced the promotion of five Emirati female leaders to senior executive roles within key Human Resources and Commercial Support departments.

From senior executives to outstation managers and department heads, the Group continues to provide Emirati women with top-tier resources designed to enhance their leadership skills and expand their career opportunities.

Over the past two decades, the Emirates Group has offered mentorship and training programs specifically for Emirati female professionals, fostering their career development and mobility through access to leadership initiatives such as the Rolls-Royce and Airbus Leadership Programs and the GE Aviation Program.

Emirati women in leadership roles at the Emirates Group also have the chance to participate in the INSEAD Women Leaders Program, empowering them to make impactful contributions and drive meaningful change in their leadership journeys.

Commitment to gender balance

In the last year alone, more than 70 Emirati women completed one or more of these programs. Additionally, Emirates sponsored three Emirati female employees to pursue postgraduate studies abroad at three of the world’s top 100 universities.

Recently, the Emirates Group established several strategic partnerships with both UAE-based and international organizations, including Nafis, Microsoft, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and PwC Academy, to provide tailored training and development programs for its Emirati workforce.

These initiatives equip Emirati women with the tools and resources necessary for career advancement and enhance their contributions to the workforce.

The Emirates Group is also a founding partner of Aurora50’s women’s networking initiative, NOORA, and a signatory of the UAE Gender Balance Council’s pledge, reaffirming its commitment to promoting female representation and advancement within the organization.
