Emirates is reorganizing and enhancing its global commercial team portfolios in preparation for the airline’s next phase of strategic growth and expansion.

The airline’s commercial operations executives and teams are responsible for managing essential relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders, achieving revenue goals, and acting as proactive ambassadors for Emirates across its extensive network, which includes 138 destinations in 80 countries.

Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ executive vice president for Passenger Sales and Country Management, will continue to lead the team and the new organizational structure, set to take effect on November 1. Notably, three of the top six positions are held by long-serving UAE Nationals.

Key position changes

  • Thierry Aucoc, currently senior vice president (SVP) of Commercial Operations for Europe and the Russian Federation, will transition to SVP of Commercial Operations (West), overseeing Europe and the Americas.
  • Adil Al Ghaith, presently SVP of Commercial Operations for the Gulf, Middle East, and Central Asia, will take on the role of SVP of Commercial Operations (Centre), which will cover the Gulf, Middle East, and Africa.
  • Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, who is currently Divisional VP for the U.S. and Canada, will become SVP of Commercial Operations (West Asia & Indian Ocean).
  • Matthew Jones, currently the regional sales manager for the U.S., will advance to VP for the U.S. and report to Thierry Aucoc.
  • Orhan Abbas, SVP of Commercial Operations for the Far East, and Barry Brown, DVP for Australasia, will continue to lead their respective regions.

Strategic intent and future goals

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ deputy president and chief commercial officer, emphasized the vital role of the Commercial Operations teams not only at the Dubai hub but throughout the expanding network. He further noted the teams’ deep insights into local market dynamics and their commitment to delighting customers and stakeholders. Additionally, by enhancing global portfolios through these executive appointments, the aim is to prepare for the future, boost customer satisfaction, invigorate the business, and energize the markets.
