Leading players in Dubai’s travel and tourism sector praised the world-class district cooling services provided by Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower) at Arabian Travel Market 2025.
Participants emphasized that Empower, along with other district cooling companies, plays a vital role in enabling the hospitality sector to adopt global best practices in sustainability and environmental protection, while significantly contributing to the reduction of its carbon footprint.
Company provides cooling services to 22 percent of Dubai’s hotels
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower and chairman of the District Cooling Operators Association, stated that Dubai’s district cooling industry is fully mobilizing its resources and capabilities to support the hospitality sector’s transition to sustainable practices, in line with its social and environmental responsibilities.
He explained that Empower, as the global leader in district cooling, is working alongside other key players to support various national initiatives and strategies focused on tourism and sustainability, most notably the UAE Tourism Strategy 2031.
By the end of 2024, Empower had provided energy-efficient cooling services to 22 percent of Dubai’s 832 hotels and hotel apartments. Prominent properties included, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, One Za’abeel, and Atlantis The Royal, among multiple others.
He emphasized that businesses across all sectors are increasingly recognizing the importance of adopting sustainability principles and practices, as they are essential to long-term growth and offer numerous benefits—compared to the significant risks of neglecting them.

Empower to expand tourism portfolio in 2025
Bin Shafar also noted that Arabian Travel Market 2025 continues to support the growth of sustainable tourism in Dubai, hosting the event under the theme “Empowering Global Travel: Shaping the Future of Tourism through Connectivity.”
During its participation, Empower announced that several new hotel and tourism projects are expected to join its diverse portfolio in 2025. The company is currently receiving numerous requests from developers and hotel operators seeking to connect their projects to Empower’s world-class, high-quality and automated district cooling services, enhanced by advanced technologies and AI-powered plants.
