Etihad Airways released on Monday its passenger traffic statistics for June 2025, reporting continued strong expansion and high customer demand. The airline carried 1.8 million passengers last month, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

During the first half of 2025, Etihad welcomed 10.2 million travellers on board, reflecting a 17 percent rise from the same period in 2024. The average passenger load factor for the year to date stands at an impressive 87 percent.

Airline introduces five seasonal routes

The sustained growth highlights Etihad Airways’ strategic expansion and strong position in the market. The passenger load factor rose to 88 percent, up from 86 percent in June 2024, demonstrating Etihad’s continued success in optimizing capacity while meeting robust demand.

“We are pleased to see continued momentum in our growth, with passenger numbers in June increasing by 17 percent year-on-year in the first half of the year, maintaining our position as the fastest-growing airline in the Middle East. Our year-to-date figures show that more than 10 million guests have flown with us in 2025, and our rolling 12-month total has almost reached 20 million as our customers continue to place their trust in our service,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.

Neves added that route expansion continued in June as the airline began operating to Prague and Warsaw for the first time and resumed five seasonal routes to summer hotspots: Nice, Malaga, Mykonos, Santorini and Antalya.

Operating fleet grows to 101 aircraft

The airline’s operating fleet now comprises 101 aircraft, up from 100 in May, supporting its expanding network and ongoing service enhancements. Etihad Airways’ network also continues to expand with 16 new routes announced for 2025 and additional aircraft joining the fleet.

In April, Etihad Airways confirmed an order for 28 wide-body Boeing aircraft. Since 2023, the airline has steadily grown its fleet as part of a long-term strategy to double in size by 2030. This reflects Etihad’s ongoing approach to aligning its fleet with evolving network and operational needs.

The agreement includes a mix of Boeing 787 and 777X aircraft, powered by GE engines and supported by a services package. These aircraft are expected to join the fleet from 2028 onwards and will support Etihad’s existing plans for growth in connectivity, operational efficiency and guest experience.

Etihad is currently finalizing a detailed plan that will shape the airline’s strategy through to 2035. The additional Boeing aircraft will form part of that evolving roadmap, ensuring the airline is well-positioned to deliver extraordinary customer experiences and to remain financially self-sustainable.
