Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways and Cairo-headquartered Egyptair have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance commercial and operational ties, and provide travelers with wider choices, higher quality services and increased value.

This agreement follows an existing codeshare between the two airlines, which has provided customers with better connectivity to destinations across both networks between Egypt and the UAE, Cairo into Africa, and beyond Abu Dhabi into Asia. The agreement enables guests to book their entire journey on a single ticket and have their baggage checked through seamlessly to their final destination.

“This agreement will help further deepen our codeshare with Egyptair opening up seamless travel for guests of both airlines across our networks,” stated Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways. Moreover, the agreement lays the foundation for cooperation in both airlines’ frequent flyer programs, joint marketing campaigns, and promotions that stimulate and reward customers.

The Etihad Airways and Egyptair agreement also includes the expansion of the existing codeshare agreement, providing Egyptair passengers more access to Etihad’s network in addition to several destinations in Asia and Australia that already exist. In addition, it gives Etihad customers seamless access to further destinations on the Egyptair network, in addition to the routes already in scope.
