Etihad Airways welcomes 6.7 million passengers in 2025, reports 21 percent April traffic surge

Etihad Airways released today its traffic statistics for April 2025, demonstrating continued strong growth and performance. The airline welcomed 1.7 million guests during the month, up 21 percent compared to the same period last year, as its upward trajectory continued.

Year-to-date, the airline has welcomed 6.7 million passengers, 1 million more than the same period in 2024, keeping it firmly on track to exceed 21 million passengers in 2025.

“April was another exceptionally strong month for Etihad, with impressive passenger growth of 21 percent compared to the same period last year. With almost 7 million guests flown in the first four months alone, we’re building strong momentum toward another record-breaking year,” stated Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways CEO.

Passenger load factor rises to 89 percent

Etihad Airways also recorded a passenger load factor of 89 percent in April, a significant improvement from 84 percent in April 2024, while maintaining its expanded capacity and increased operating fleet size.

“Our April load factor of 89 percent shows customers continue to choose Etihad for our quality of service, network and overall value. We’re now on track to carry more than 21 million guests in 2025 – more than ever before in our history. As we move forward into the busy summer season, we remain focused on our growth strategy while maintaining the exceptional travel experience that our guests have come to expect from Etihad,” Neves added.

As of April 2025, Etihad Airways now operates a fleet of 99 aircraft, up from 89 aircraft during the same period last year. The airline also grew its network of destinations to 72 from 68 during the same month last year.

Airline carries 5 million passengers in Q1 2025

The airline continued its positive performance as one of the fastest-growing global carriers in March, welcoming 1.6 million guests, up 14 percent compared to the same period last year. This brought the total guest numbers to 5 million in the first quarter of 2025, up from 4.3 million guests in the same quarter last year.

“Our guest numbers saw further strong growth, and across the 12 months to the end of March 2025, we have welcomed almost 20 million passengers. In the past month alone, we have announced two new routes and increased flight frequencies, bringing the total number of new destinations scheduled for 2025 to 16,” stated Neves.

Etihad Airways recorded a passenger load factor of 87 percent in the first quarter of the year, up from 86 percent in the same period in 2024, while expanding its capacity and increasing its operating fleet size by 10 percent.
