Digital Dubai has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft UAE, a fully owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation, to strengthen collaboration in technological innovations and ensure their effective and impactful application.

This partnership aims to foster integration among government entities and serve the UAE citizens and residents of Dubai.

The signing ceremony occurred on the Digital Dubai platform within the Dubai Government Pavilion at Gitex Global 2024. The agreement was executed by Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, director-general of Digital Dubai, and Naim Yazbeck, general manager of Microsoft UAE.

Focus on AI

This agreement underscores Microsoft’s dedication to launching a comprehensive initiative focused on developing skills in artificial intelligence, thereby supporting Digital Dubai’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.

Enhancing future skills

Microsoft will boost Digital Dubai’s vision of digitizing life in the emirate by enhancing future skills across various sectors, particularly in training AI administrative staff and executives responsible for AI strategy development within the Dubai government.

Commitment to digital transformation

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori expressed his enthusiasm for this collaboration, noting that it contributes to advancing digital transformation in Dubai. He explained that the partnership with Microsoft UAE aligns with their strategy to forge global collaborations that achieve shared goals, reflecting the trust between them and their partners, as well as their joint commitment to adapt to rapid global changes, especially in artificial intelligence and industrial revolution technologies.

Dubai as a global destination

Al Mansoori further mentioned that Dubai has always been—and remains—a key destination for leading global companies recognized for their innovation and leadership. He emphasized that through this collaborative journey, these companies, led by Microsoft, have significantly influenced Dubai’s digital landscape and contributed to its success story as an inspiring global narrative. Additionally, he expressed excitement about elevating this relationship by making artificial intelligence a pivotal aspect of their partnership.

Naim Yazbeck stated that artificial intelligence is essential to Dubai’s vision as a digital city. The agreement further includes provisions for training developers in artificial intelligence and creating suitable content to raise awareness among the broader population, equipping them with fundamental AI concepts.

Moreover, this initiative supports Digital Dubai’s mission to close digital skill gaps and prepare individuals and job seekers for future opportunities.
