Dubai cements its prominent position on the regional and international tourism map, taking the top spot in hotel occupancy at 82 percent, ahead of other international destinations.  

Dubai welcomed 3.97 million international overnight visitors during Q1 2022, up from 1.27 million visitors during the same period last year, according to data released by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) at the ongoing Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2022.

The Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said in a tweet that Dubai welcomed about 4 million visitors from around the world in the first quarter of 2022, a 214 percent increase in compared to the same period last year 2021. He noted that the figures emphasize the strength of tourism in Dubai, leading to global growth in this field. 

Dubai is driving global tourism recovery, with roughly 1.78 million international visitors in March.

Noteworthy that in 2021, Dubai ranked the world first for providing the best tourist experience for travelers, according to Trip Advisor. 

Dubai received 7.28 million international visitors in 2021, up 32 percent from the same period in 2020, and the numbers increased significantly in Q4 2021, thanks to Expo 2020. It reached more than 3.4 million visitors, accounting for 74 percent of the total number of international visitors for the same period in 2019.
