A luxury camp is being pitched in Qatar to accommodate supporters of the teams competing in the World Cup finals, which will be hosted by the country from November 21 to December 18.
Tournament organizer FIFA announced that the two-person tents in the coastal community of Al Khor would cost around 350 sterling pounds ($425) a night and would be the cheapest official accommodation for fans.
The luxury tents, which could number up to 200, will be fully equipped with amenities such as air conditioning, internet, television, etc…
In mid-June, the executive director of the housing department at the Supreme Organizing Committee for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar Omar Al-Jaber said that a camp of a thousand tents was being built to house fans. “This is a genuine camp. We will provide people with desert experiences and Bedouin-style tents,” he noted.
According to Al-Jaber, these tents will have electricity provided by generators, as well as water and sewage systems, but they will not be air-conditioned.
Among other locations, the tents will be set up on Sealine Beach in the country’s south, near the desert’s entrance.
