The Dubai Community Contributions Platform, known as ‘Jood’, has been launched by the Community Development Authority (CDA) under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

Jood serves as a centralized hub dedicated to promoting and strengthening social and humanitarian endeavors throughout Dubai. Also, its primary goal is to inspire active engagement from stakeholders and reinforce sustainable community development in alignment with the Dubai Social Agenda 33.

Promoting a spirit of “Giving Back to the Community”

Jood is committed to fostering a spirit of “Giving Back to the Community” and aims to establish a robust and proactive social care and empowerment system. It provides a secure and reliable platform for social responsibility contributions, encouraging companies, entrepreneurs, institutions, and individuals of diverse nationalities to participate in sustainable projects that empower society in critical sectors such as health, education, and social welfare. Furthermore, the platform prioritizes transparency and efficiency in harnessing the contributions of companies and fostering collaboration among stakeholders to enrich the social sector.

Enhancing social care and empowerment systems

The Jood initiative aligns with the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and aims to enhance social care and empowerment systems for positive societal outcomes. It empowers businesses and sectors to contribute to projects that have a lasting impact on society, particularly in areas like health, education, and community empowerment. The initiative seeks to position Dubai among the top three cities in the world in terms of standard of living within the next decade.

Fostering private sector participation

The platform encourages private sector participation through corporate social responsibility in community development and enhancement projects. It promotes social cohesion, transparency in the utilization of contributions, and collaboration with relevant authorities to support and advance the social sector. Jood directs contributions towards community projects with a focus on sustainable impact, including support for education, scientific research and development, healthcare enhancement, and community protection measures. It also facilitates the construction and equipping of social centers to maximize the effectiveness of contributions.

Collaborative effort of 11 government agencies

Additionally, Jood is a collaborative effort among 11 government agencies in Dubai, supported by the Dubai government’s directives to strengthen governance in the community contributions sector. The platform also harmonizes the corporate social responsibility policy of Dubai with the social responsibility strategies of institutions and companies within the emirate. By implementing impactful initiatives, Jood aims to leverage the benefits of philanthropy while ensuring sustained societal impact. The initiatives aim to benefit all segments of society, including citizens, residents, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.

The participating entities in the Jood platform include the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, Dar Al Ber Society, Al Jalila – Dubai Health Foundation, Beit Al Khair Society, and Dubai Charitable Society. The platform was developed in partnership with several government entities, including the General Secretariat of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Dubai Digital Authority, the Community Development Authority, the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, and the Department of Finance in Dubai.

Unified platform for showcasing initiatives

Jood provides a unified and reliable platform for showcasing and endorsing initiatives, projects, and campaigns proposed by institutions. Moreover, it highlights pressing needs, facilitates new donor contributions, and aligns with the social responsibility plans of the private sector. Contributions can be made directly through the platform via electronic payment or bank transfer. The platform provides regular updates on project status and progress, along with documented reports of contributions to meet social responsibility requirements. This approach ensures sustainable performance and offers various benefits to contributors.

Digital interface

The Jood platform also offers convenient access and immediate contribution to diverse community initiatives through its digital interface. Donations can be made through the platform or via the “Dubai Now” application. It demonstrates the connections between each initiative and sustainable community development goals, including environmental, social, and governance factors. The platform emphasizes transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness throughout the process.

Global partnerships

Aligned with Goal 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Jood platform highlights global partnerships and the importance of common objectives and dedication to leveraging the combined efforts of diverse institutions worldwide for sustainability. Furthermore, it underscores the significance of partnerships between governments, the private sector, and civil society in advancing sustainable development.

Structured institutional framework

In addition, Jood provides a structured institutional framework for receiving contributions from companies and businesspersons. It also focuses on strategic, purposeful, and sustainable community initiatives to empower Dubai society and fulfill the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda. The platform also aims to strengthen the institutionalization of social responsibility contributions and solidify Dubai’s position as a pioneer in nurturing a unified and solidarity-based society that encompasses all individuals, groups, and sectors.
