A statement issued by the Elysee Palace said today, Friday, that French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman agreed on the importance of diversifying energy supplies.
On Thursday, Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived in Paris from Greece, where he held talks with officials there and attended the signing of a number of economic agreements between the two countries.
According to a statement by Elysee, Macron and the Crown Prince “stressed the need to find a way out of the conflict and intensify cooperation to mitigate its effects in Europe, the Middle East, and the world.”
In this regard, Macron stressed “the importance of continuing the coordination that began with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to diversify the energy supply of European countries and launch the FARM initiative for global food security,” according to the official statement.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the Crown Prince left France and sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the French president “for the warm reception and hospitality I received and the accompanying delegation.”
The Crown Prince said that the talks with Macron confirmed the common desire to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two friendly countries in all fields and to work on continuing coordination and consultation on issues of common interest, which aim to achieve the goals of the two friendly countries and peoples and enhance security and stability in the region.
The Crown Prince had met in Paris the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay. During the meeting, a review of Saudi cultural initiatives and mutual cooperation with UNESCO and opportunities for its development was conducted.
