The UAE and Jordan plan soon to accept Meeza cards, Egypt’s first national payment card, in their transactions, making it easier for Egyptians working for them to send money abroad to their families.
Final studies are now being conducted by the Central Bank of Egypt to authorize the use of Meeza cards in the UAE and Jordan, as part of a financial and banking cooperation agreement between the three nations’ central banks.
According to the Middle East News Agency, Ihab Nasr, Assistant Sub Governor of Egypt’s Central Bank, Payment Systems and Business Technology Sector, this measure will make it easier for Egyptians with Meeza cards to complete financial transactions in Jordan and the UAE.
He noted that authorities from the two countries agreed to work together to link the payment systems of the three countries, with the goal of making it easier and cheaper for Egyptians working abroad to make cash transfers to their relatives in Egypt.
