If the moon is sighted on Monday, the month of Ramadan would end on its 29th day, while Eid Al Fitr will fall on Tuesday. If the moon is not sighted, the holy month would end with 30 days, and Eid will fall on Wednesday.

Eid holidays in the UAE

The Eid Al Fitr holiday in the UAE will begin on Monday, April 8. The public sector will enjoy a week-long break and resume office on Monday, April 15. The private sector, on the other hand, will have a holiday until Shawwal 3. If the crescent is sighted on April 8 (Monday), then April 9 will be Shawwal 1, the first day of Eid Al Fitr. This would give private sector employees a four-day holiday – from Monday to Thursday.

However, if the moon is sighted on April 9 (Tuesday), then Wednesday, April 10, will be the first day of Shawwal. This will give private sector employees a five-day holiday – from Monday to Friday.
